Residents are invited to roll up their sleeves and help grow Grande Prairie’s urban forest during a TD Tree Days event at Ivy Lake Park on Sunday, September 13.
The City is working with TD to bring together up to 30 volunteers to plant 169 trees and shrubs in the park. The planting will add to the City’s urban forest and help strengthen a public green space that can be enjoyed by the community for years to come.
“TD Tree Days is a great opportunity for residents to come together and make a lasting contribution to our community,” says City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “The trees and shrubs planted at Ivy Lake Park will become part of Grande Prairie’s growing urban forest, supporting a healthy green space for residents to enjoy for years to come.”
The event takes place from 9 a.m. to noon near the southwest corner of Ivy Lake Park along the walking path, near 90 Street and 100 Avenue.
TD Tree Days is the flagship volunteer and urban greening program of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. The program brings people together to spend time outdoors, connect with their community and contribute to local green spaces.
Residents interested in participating are asked to register in advance. Registration is completed through the TD Tree Days website, with the registration link available through the City’s event page.
