(Grande Prairie, AB – August 29, 2023) – Grande Prairie residents are reminded the Eastlink Centre aquatics area is fully closing from September 5 until October 22, 2023 to accommodate the annual aquatics maintenance shutdown.
“This year’s annual aquatics maintenance includes completing work in conjunction with a 10-year maintenance cycle that has not been done since the Eastlink Centre opened, making many of the tasks larger and more extensive,” said the City of Grande Prairie’s Community Knowledge Campus General Manager, Angela Redding. “We appreciate the community’s understanding and support during the shutdown to help ensure the longevity, functionality, safety and efficiency of the aquatics area.”
The Eastlink Centre has extended Monday to Thursday public swim times to run from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. to maximize opportunities for residents to use the amenity before the aquatics shutdown. While aquatics is open for public drop-in during all aquatic operational hours, public swim features all amenities in the area being turned on and available, including the FlowRider, water slides and splash park.
The Aquatera Outdoor Pool will remain open for as long as the weather allows and will close for the season once the forecasted temperatures on average reach plus five degrees overnight to ensure no damage is done to the infrastructure.
