Delegations

Susan Schneider presented to City Council regarding the cricket practice pitch in Head & Salmond Park. City Council directed administration to create a report outlining potential safety changes to the existing cricket facility and potential alternate locations.

The Grande Prairie Legion presented to City Council regarding beautification and construction of east 100 Street. City Council directed administration to explore potential options for the banner and flag request.

Municipal Police Service Budget

City Council approved the allocation of $3,975,450 to the municipal police service budget funded from the police transition dollars provided to the City from the Province of Alberta.

Specialty Crosswalk Painting Application – Policy 613

City Council approved Policy 613, being the Specialty Crosswalk Painting Application.

Grant Funding

Council approved grant funding in the following amounts:

  • $10,900 and gift in kind in the amount of $2,800 to the Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association;
  • $1,000 to the Grande Prairie Filipino Basketball League for sport hosting;
  • $1,000 to the Grande Prairie Aquarians Swim Club for sport hosting; and
  • $1,000 to the Grande Prairie Cricket Association for sport hosting.

Coordinated Care Campus

Council postponed the discussion for additional funding for the Coordinated Care Campus project, funded from the Future Expenditures Reserve, until the Aug. 21 Council Meeting.

Swan City Hockey Association Loan

City Council approved a 3-year interest-free payment deferral to the Swan City Hockey Association on their outstanding loan from the City. Repayments begin in July 2026.

Mid-Year Budget Requests

City Council amended the 2023 operating and capital budgets as presented.

Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-169

City Council directed Administration to work with the Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-169 applicant and bring back a report on potential landscaping options on the east side on City property.

Council directed Administration to create suggestions regarding fencing, sound attenuation and landscaping when Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-169 returns for third reading.

Correspondence

Mayor Clayton received a letter County of Grande Prairie acknowledging the City’s efforts in supporting the Dunes West Wildfire Response.
