Starting Today, June 21, through June 23, the westbound lanes adjacent to the curb on 100 Avenue will be temporarily closed to allow for hydro-vac and underground utility locate operations. The intersection will be reduced from four to two lanes during this period.

Saturday evening, June 24, until Sunday evening, June 25, the intersection at 98 Street and 100 Avenue operating in flashing red mode. During this time, all motorists must treat the intersection as a three-way stop. This is necessary to work on the traffic signal controller and conduct tests on the newly installed cable.

On Tuesday, June 20, essential traffic signal work begins at the intersection of 98 Street and 100 Avenue to repair damaged traffic signals, ensure proper functionality of the signals, and support community safety.

To facilitate the necessary repairs, northbound and southbound traffic on 98 Street is temporarily reduced to one lane each, between 101 Avenue and 99 Avenue. Westbound traffic on 100 Avenue will remain unaffected.

Pedestrian detours will be in place on 98 Street and signage will be installed to guide pedestrians to the designated detour routes.

The project is anticipated to be completed in approximately 1 to 2 weeks.

The City of Grande Prairie urges all residents, motorists, and pedestrians to exercise caution and comply with all posted signage and instructions while navigating the affected area.

“Ensuring the safety and functionality of our city's infrastructure is always a priority for the City of Grande Prairie,” said Capital Construction Supervisor, Mark Hoseasson. “The upcoming traffic signal maintenance at the intersection of 98 Street and 100 Avenue is an important project to repair damaged traffic signal conduit. It is crucial for residents to be aware of this work and its impact on their daily commutes.”
