Roadway improvements are underway on a section of 111 Avenue, east of 100 Street.
Work consists of asphalt milling and replacement of the existing road structure with a new pavement structure, concrete work, minor storm sewer infrastructure repairs, and landscaping.
Roadway access will be granted to local traffic only and short-term road closures are expected periodically. The speed limit is reduced to 30 km/hour during construction.
Drivers are advised to proceed with caution, watch for flag people and anticipate potential traffic delays.
"The road work on 111 Avenue is a crucial step towards enhancing the quality and longevity of our roads, ensuring a smoother and safer travel experience for all," said Project Engineer, Daniel Dawson. “We are committed to improving our road infrastructure for the benefit of our community and appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding during construction.”
Crews plan to operate from Monday to Saturday, with work expected to be complete by mid-July.
Background Information:
In 2023, the City of Grande Prairie allocated approximately $10.95 million to enhance the road network. This includes road reconstruction, road overlay, and full-depth reclamation (FDR) projects, which collectively aim to enhance the overall quality and longevity of our roads.
