Below are the highlights for the Special City Council meeting held on March 31, 2021:

ICF Extension Resolution

Council is sending a letter to the Minister of Municipal Affairs requesting a six-week extension to the Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework deadline. The County of Grande Prairie passed a motion this week also requesting an extension.

Maskwa Medical Centre Canada

Council approved funding in the amount of $50,000 from the Economic Development Operating Budget for the Maskwa Medical Centre (Canada) Inc. Business Case.

Maskwa Medical Centre presented to City Council on March 22, with their initial plans for the development of a patient-centered diagnostics centre, based on the Mayo Clinic model and outlined their business planning requirements for Alberta Health.

Recognizing the potential for economic impact and enhancement of quality of life for residents in the region from the proposed facility, Administration recommended using funds from Economic Development as a grant from the department’s operating budget.
