The City of Grande Prairie is inviting the community to participate in engagement sessions for the Avondale Area Redevelopment Plan on November 3, 4, and 5.
The sessions are an opportunity for members of the community to learn about ideas for the future use of the area in the short term (2-5 years), medium term (10-20 years), and long term (30+ years) and provide feedback to the City’s land use planners.
The in-person sessions run in 45-minute time slots between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion November 3 and 4. Registration via Eventbrite is recommended as space is limited due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions. Masks will be required and provided at the door for those attending in person. Drop-ins will only be accommodated if space allows.
An online session takes place via Zoom on November 5, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. To receive the Zoom link, residents must register for the online session via Eventbrite starting October 23 at 9 a.m.
To register for both in-person and online sessions, visit: avondalehsarp.eventbrite.ca.
The Avondale Area Redevelopment plan specifically covers the area where the Leisure Centre, Peace Wapiti Academy, Composite High School, and Legion Field are located.
Area Redevelopment Plans are land use planning documents that help assess existing neighbourhoods and determine future land uses, such as if a specific area should be used for schools, greenspace/parks, and recreation.
