The City of Grande Prairie Continues to invest in the City’s road network, with the road rehabilitation program and the traffic signal inspections program continuing next week.
Asphalt Overlay on 99 Avenue Between 105 Street and 96 Street
An asphalt overlay takes place on 99 Avenue between 105 Street and 96 Street, starting on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, weather permitting.
The construction activities include removing a layer of existing asphalt and concrete curbs, or sidewalks, where necessary. The road and concrete curbs or sidewalks will be reinstalled, and landscaping will be repaired.
Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be maintained along 99 Avenue during construction and the project is anticipated to be complete by mid-October.
Asphalt overlay is a method used to prolong the current roadway showing cracks and potholes, while still not being damaged enough to warrant a full road rehabilitation.
Traffic Signal Inspection Program
Starting on Tuesday, September 8, various traffic signals in Grande Prairie will be inspected to determine the condition of traffic signal infrastructure and determine which signals require repairs or replacements. The inspections result in periodic, short term lane closures.
For all construction projects, the public is reminded to watch for workers in all construction zones and to follow all posted signage or sign persons.
