The City of Grande Prairie continues capital road construction projects as part of the 2020 construction season in the neighbourhoods of VLA/Montrose, Country Club West, and South Patterson Place.

A total of $16.9 million is being invested into roadway improvements that extend the life of a road or reconstruct a roadway.

VLA/Montrose - On Monday, June 1, an asphalt overlay begins along 98 Street between 112 Avenue and 104 Avenue. Traffic is expected to be maintained during construction, with alternating lanes open resulting in minor traffic delays. Construction in VLA/Montrose is anticipated to be complete by the end of July.

Country Club West – A full depth reclamation is scheduled to begin in early June in the Country Club West neighbourhood along:

  • 99 Street between 68 Avenue and 63 Avenue
  • 66 Avenue between 99 Street and 98 Street
  • 99B Street between 67 Avenue and 66 Avenue

Traffic is expected to be maintained during construction, with minor traffic delays. Full depth reclamation consists of pulverizing the existing road pavement and mixing it into the road’s base structure. Cement and foamed asphalt are mixed into the structure and compacted, and a new asphalt pavement structure is placed overtop.

South Patterson Place – Beginning first week in June, 72 Avenue between 100 Street and Poplar Drive will undergo a full road reconstruction and the addition of a new sidewalk on the south side of the roadway. Traffic flow is expected to be reduced to alternating lanes and minor traffic delays are expected.

Construction in Country Club West and South Patterson Place is anticipated to be complete mid-July.

All completion dates are weather dependent. Motorists are reminded to travel through construction zones with caution, obey all posted traffic signage, and obey any sign-persons onsite.
