Four City bylaws were amended to include cannabis regulations at a City Council meeting yesterday evening.

The amended bylaws are:

  • Business License Bylaw (C-1064H)
  • Land Use Bylaw (C-1260-94)
  • Smoke Free Playgrounds and Athletic Fields Bylaw (C-1278B)
  • Minimum Property Standards Bylaw (C-1293A)

Residents seeking to open cannabis retail locations are required to submit applications for a Business License and a Development Permit in-person at City on 99th (9910 99 Avenue) or by e-mail at blicensing@cityofgp.com.

An additional requirement is the completion of a paper applicant disclosure form. A full list of application guidelines may be found online at cityofgp.com/cannabis.

The intake period for applications is June 19 to July 6. All applications received during the intake period will be included in a draw to determine the order in which they are assessed.

A 15 license cap was set on the number of cannabis retail locations in the City.

There is no fee to apply for a Business License and Development Permit. All fees will be payable after the draw date.

City staff are available to assist with the completion of applications during the intake period.
