On Monday, July 17, road work will begin on 68 Avenue westbound lanes between Knowledge Way and Kateri Drive.

"Infrastructure improvements like the 68 Avenue construction project are crucial for our community's growth and well-being,” said Capital Construction Supervisor Mark Hoseasson. “By enhancing road surfaces, replacing curbs and sidewalks, and improving storm sewer infrastructure, we are ensuring safer and more efficient transportation for residents and visitors alike. We appreciate the community's patience and understanding as we work diligently to complete this project, creating a better future for Grande Prairie."

Work consists of milling the existing road surface and placing a new pavement surface, spot replacing concrete curb and sidewalks, minor repairs to the storm sewer infrastructure and re-establishing road line markings and landscaping.

Asphalt spot repairs are planned for the eastbound lanes of 68 Avenue, between 100 Street and Poplar Drive.

Traffic is restricted but maintained, and the speed limit is reduced to 30 km/hour during construction. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution, watch for flag people and anticipate potential traffic delays.

It is anticipated that crews will operate from Monday to Saturday, with work expected to be complete by early August, weather permitting.
