Here are the highlights for the City Council Meeting held September 21, 2020:

Municipal Stimulus Program

City Council approved $8.2 Million in Capital Construction projects to be funded from the Municipal Stimulus Program (MSP), with one amendment to reallocate $200,000 from road rehabilitation to crosswalk improvements.

The total funding allocations are as follows:

  • $3,750,000 - Road Rehab (local roads)            
  • $600,000 - 103 Ave Slope/Rehab
  • $400,000 - Crosswalk Improvements
  • $750,000 - SBC Building Replacement  
  • $2,700,000 - Priority Storm Infrastructure Repairs and Improvements

Regional Recreation Coordinator Position

City Council funded the Regional Recreation Coordinator Position at 0.75 time for a total of $45,737.

Grande Prairie Soccer Association Funding Request

The GP Soccer Association presented as a delegation to request support for a new soccer facility. Council directed administration to connect with the group and to bring options for Council to discuss at budget deliberations for the City's possible contribution.
