Deputy Mayor Blackmore declared June 19-25 as International Pollinator Week and recognized our status as a Bee City.
This proclamation recognizes the integral part pollinators play in our ecosystem, and the importance of protecting and promoting their diversity in our community.
Lemonade Day
Deputy Mayor Blackmore declared June 17 as Lemonade Day in Grande Prairie.
Lemonade Day is a free, community-wide educational event promoting entrepreneurial thinking and enterprise among our youth.

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Appointment
Council appointed Shane Bourke as the CAO for the City of Grande Prairie effective September 18, 2023.
Council appointed Arlen Miller as the Interim CAO for the City of Grande Prairie from July 1, 2023 to September 17, 2023.
Stormwater Utility Billing
Council directed Administration to enter into negotiations with Aquatera Utilities Inc. to provide billing services for the City of Grande Prairie’s Stormwater Utility.
The Stormwater Utility implementation will be funded from the Financial Stabilization Reserve up to $544,000.
RCMP Retroactive Salary Payment
Council approved the deferral of payment for the RCMP retroactive salary obligation until March 2025.
Q1 2023 Financial Report
Council received the unaudited financial statements and supporting information for the period ending March 31, 2023 for information.
Health Care Professionals Attraction and Retention Strategy
Council received the Health Care Professionals Attraction and Retention Strategy for information, and provided feedback prior to the strategy being finalized.
City of Edmonton
City Council received a letter of support from the City of Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi extending an offer of administrative support if required during wildfire season.
City Council is thankful for this generous gesture of inter-municipal support across Alberta.
Road Closure Bylaw C-1464
Council passed Road Closure Bylaw C-1464 which closes the portion of the service road Plan 3823NY, as noted within the Location Map, and consolidate with the adjacent lands.
The service road has previously been decommissioned.
Easthaven Outline Plan Bylaw C-1465
Council passed the Easthaven Outline Plan Bylaw which will replace the Kingsgate Landing Outline Plan, but will not change the intent.
Urban Rail Business Park Outline Plan Bylaw C-1466
Council passed the Urban Rail Business Park Outline Plan which will replace the Railside Business Park Outline Plan, but will not change the intent.
