City Council Highlights for the meeting held on February 21, 2023:

Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medals

Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medals were presented to Janet MacEachern and Preben Bossen.

Delegations

Alberta Health Services Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provided an operations update including: event volumes, response performance, current challenges and mitigation strategies.

Council Member Appointment - 2024 Alberta Winter Games

Council removed the appointment of Mayor Clayton to the 2024 Alberta Winter Games Board of Directors and appointed Councillor Bressey as a non-voting member.

Boulevard Mowing and Naturalization

Council directed Administration to proceed with weekly mowing of arterial boulevards by reallocating resources from fall operations to early summer; and proceed with the Boulevard Naturalization Pilot Program.

Bylaw C-1444 Subdivision and Development Appeal Board Bylaw Amendments

Council passed Bylaw C-1444A, being an amendment to the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board Bylaw.

Leona Hanson, Amanda Van Beekveld, and Jessica Sanderson were appointed as Clerks for the board.

Correspondence

CN Rail wrote Council thanking the Mayor for signing this year’s resolution in support of Rail Safety Week and officially recognizing the event in Grande Prairie.

They also presented Council with a copy of CN’s 100 anniversary commemorative book, 100 Years of Building a Legacy Together.
