Work on the Downtown Rehabilitation and Streetscapes Project is progressing east, the intersection of 100 Avenue and 98 Street is closing to traffic starting Tuesday, August 10 to accommodate upgrades to the deep underground utilities and roadway and sidewalk work.
The pipes to be upgraded include storm, sanitary, and water lines. The improved utilities will tie into the existing underground utility network and support the opportunity for higher-density development in the downtown core due to increase carrying capacity. After the work is complete the intersection will be repaved.
Traffic signal timings will be altered in advance to allow for improved movement around the construction site. The closure is anticipated to last up to four weeks and detour routes will be posted. The City’s detour map for the Downtown Rehabilitation and Streetscapes project can be viewed or downloaded from the City’s website.
The Downtown Rehabilitation and Streetscapes project is progressing on schedule and is anticipated to be complete by the end of October.
