The City of Grande Prairie is excited to bring back the GP Grows: Dig It program for another year, offering free seed potatoes, carrots, radishes, beets, onions and triple-mix soil.
GP Grows: Dig It builds on the previous success of GP Grows and positive feedback from the community. The program provides residents with a fun activity everyone can enjoy while experiencing the benefits of gardening.
To participate, pick up your supplies in person on May 6 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Activity & Reception Centre located at 9401 Park Road. There is no registration for this program and supplies are first-come-first-served.
"Gardening not only brings joy and satisfaction but also empowers individuals to grow their own fresh produce. The GP Grows: Dig It program provides residents with the resources and guidance needed to start their own garden at home,” said Engagement Advisor, Jessica Ross. “We encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity and experience the benefits of gardening and growing your own food."
City staff will be on-site to provide tips on how to start an at-home garden successfully.
The City encourages all residents, whether you are a seasoned gardener or just starting out, to participate in this free program.
