(Grande Prairie, Alta. – October 10, 2025) – Families are invited to celebrate Halloween in the heart of the city as the Halloween Spooktacular returns to Grande Prairie’s downtown on Saturday, October 25. The City of Grande Prairie and the Downtown Association are once again partnering with local businesses to create an event that brings families together for spooky fun and a spirited downtown celebration.

A special Gentle Ghouls Sensory Hour, sponsored by Goodwill, takes place from 10 to 11 a.m. in The Bowes at Bonnetts Energy Centre. The hour is designed to provide a quieter environment for families and children with sensory sensitivities to enjoy the Halloween experience.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., activities inside The Bowes include:

  • Children’s costume contest at 11:30 a.m.
  • Haunted house
  • Family friendly entertainment and a live DJ
  • Free hot dog lunch with cookies and juice at 12:00 p.m.

The celebration moves outdoors from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with trick-or-treating at downtown businesses along 100 Avenue between 99 Street and 101 Street, and through the downtown area.

“The Halloween Spooktacular brings families together to celebrate the season in a way that feels safe, welcoming and connected,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “It’s a tradition that highlights the spirit of our community and the energy of our downtown. We are grateful to the Downtown Association and local businesses for their commitment to making this event such a memorable experience for families year after year.”

“The Downtown Association is proud to collaborate with the City of Grande Prairie to create the 2025 Halloween Spooktacular that starts at Bonnetts Energy Centre and involves businesses throughout the downtown area,” said Hywel Williams, Executive Director of the Downtown Association. “This family-friendly daytime event is another great example of why the downtown is the heart of our city. It is a safe and vibrant environment to gather and connect as a community. Our members look forward to participating in the trick-or-treating again and spending the afternoon meeting families from all across the city.”
