The City of Grande Prairie is excited to announce the launch of a texting service that will improve the way residents receive important updates and stay connected with their community. This initiative is part of the City's ongoing efforts to expand services and provide alternative communication methods, catering to the diverse interests and needs of Grande Prairie residents.

The City of Grande Prairie invites all residents to register for this innovative texting service, further strengthening the sense of community and connectivity within Grande Prairie.

How to Register for the City of Grande Prairie's Texting Service

To take advantage of this new communication channel, residents can follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Create Your Account

  • Visit access.cityofgp.com.
  • Click the button ‘Opt-in for SMS Text Service Updates’
  • If you don't already have an account, fill in the required information to create your account, including your name, email address, and a secure password.

Step 2: Opt-In for Text Alerts

  • Once your account is created, you will be able to provide your mobile phone number and opt-in to receive text alerts

Step 3: Choose Your Announcement Preferences

  • Select the specific types of announcements you wish to receive, such as service updates, construction notices, amenity closures, and more.

Step 4: Select Your Preferred Neighborhood Categories

  • Explore various neighbourhood categories that align with your interests. Note, Neighborhoods will only show as an option if certain categories are selected (ie. snow & construction).
  • Check the corresponding boxes to choose the areas for which you want to receive text message updates.

Step 5: Save Your Preferences

  • After selecting your preferred update categories, save your selections by clicking "Finish."

Step 6: Manage Your Subscriptions

  • Existing AccessGP account holders looking to enable text alerts or adjust preferences can log in to their account or text ‘MANAGE’ to 311000.
  • Once logged in, click the "Manage my SMS Subscriptions" button to manage your selections.

Step 7: Edit Subscriptions Anytime

  • You can revisit your subscription preferences at any time by clicking on your name or profile icon and choosing "My Subscriptions."
  • Adjust your choices as needed and remember to save your changes after editing.

With these steps, residents can seamlessly customize their notifications and stay informed about community events, announcements, and important updates tailored to their interests. All messages will be sent from 311000.
