Transfer of Legion Field Assets
City Council approved a request from the Grande Prairie Regional Football Association to transfer assets located at the Legion Field to the City.
Naming Rights Partner for Downtown Events Centre and Arena
The Grande Prairie City Council entered into a 10-year naming rights partnership with Bonnetts Energy Corp. for the Downtown Events Centre.
Bonnetts Energy Corp. is a well respected and established energy company operating in the Peace Region. In 2022, the company will be celebrating 50 years of service. Bonnetts Energy Corp. has supported the Grande Prairie region with countless jobs and philanthropic initiatives.
The Bonnetts Energy Corp. team, led by CEO Murray Toews, wanted to make a substantial commitment to the City of Grande Prairie for their 50th anniversary and consolidate their sponsorship efforts. The naming rights partnership exemplifies the company’s commitment to giving back to the community and their passion for the sport of hockey demonstrated through their avid support of the AJHL Grande Prairie Storm hockey team.

License of Occupation for the Gursikh Missionary Society
The Gursikh Missionary Society has been approved for a Licence of Occupation for a Public Utility Lot located near 92 Street and Juno Crossing. The land is proposed to be used for additional parking for the facility.
Transportation Off-Site Levy Bylaw Approved
City Council approved and updated Transportation Off-Site Levy Bylaw that supports and funds the capital costs for new or expanded arterial roadways impacted by subdivisions and new development, and connection of municipal roads to provincial.
Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Bylaw and Policies
City Council approved two policies and a bylaw that improve the City’s overall legislative compliance, information management, and privacy practices, including:
- Bylaw C-1382 being the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Bylaw,
- Policy 500, being the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy (AIPP) Policy.
- Council approve Policy 807, being the Video Surveillance Policy, as presented.
- Council repeal Policy 805, being the Video Surveillance in Public Areas Policy, and Policy 806, being the City Facilities Video Surveillance Policy.
Municipal Development Plan Amendment to Top of Bank Road Policy
Grande Prairie City Council approved an amendment to the Top of Bank Road Policy, allowing a reduction to the required 35% top of bank road requirement if the proposed development concept achieves the goals of the policy.
Hidden Valley Area Structure Plan
City Council approved amendments to the Hidden Valley Area Structure Plan that proposes an updated development concept for Hidden Valley including an adjusted mix of residential types and commercial areas and allows for a reduction in the minimum top of bank road requirement.
