City of Grande Prairie residents are encouraged to register to vote in advance of the 2025 Municipal Election by August 15, 2025. Advance registration helps ensure a quicker, more convenient voting experience by reducing wait times and streamlining the process at the polls. 

Residents can check their registration status or register easily by visiting voterlink.ab.ca. The process is simple and takes just a few minutes. 

Advance registration ensures voters are election-ready, with their information confirmed and identification requirements met. This preparation helps avoid unnecessary steps at the polls and supports a more efficient voting process.

Residents who miss the registration deadline can still vote on election day, though they may encounter longer wait times and additional steps at the polls.

Background

In 2024, the Province’s Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA) began requiring all municipalities to create and maintain a Permanent Electors Register. This register, used in conjunction with valid identification, allows election officials to efficiently verify voter eligibility for the General Election on October 20, 2025.
