The Grande Prairie Museum, Heritage Discovery Centre and Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum are proud to collaborate to recognize International Museum Day with free celebrations at all locations on September 5 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

To celebrate the day, each facility is hosting unique activities and games for all to participate in. Activities include fossil labs and challenges at the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum, an Indigenous craft at the Grande Prairie Museum and a community sports mural painting at the Heritage Discovery Centre.

Residents are asked to register in advance to manage crowd control and physical distancing protocols. Registration for the 60-minute time slots for each facility will be available starting on August 21 at 8:30 a.m. through cityofgrandeprairie.perfectmind.com.

In addition to these activities, each Museum will be hosting their own scavenger hunt through an interactive scavenger hunt app. Attendees will be able to pre-download the app prior to the event and come prepared to complete the missions during their time slot. Mini prizes will be randomly drawn for participants who complete one of the scavenger hunts. A grand prize will be randomly drawn for participants who complete all 3 scavenger hunts at each location. Full details on how to download the app, complete tasks and win prizes is available at the International Museum Day page on cityofgp.com.

Free shuttle services are available every 20 minutes between the Heritage Discovery Centre (located at Centre 2000) and Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum starting at 12:00 p.m. The last bus leaves Wembley for the Heritage Discovery Centre at 5:00 p.m. There will be a bus available between Heritage Discovery Centre and Grande Prairie Museum for attendees with accessibility needs. Residents are asked to register for shuttle service to and from each facility through cityofgrandeprairie.perfectmind.com on August 21.
