Grande Prairie's 5 Year Plan to End Homelessness

The City of Grande Prairie created its first Multi-Year Plan to End Homelessness (2009-2014), setting 5 broad goals and preparing the stage for enhanced collaboration and integration of programs and services at the municipal, provincial and federal levels. A strong foundation has been laid to achieve the end goal of ending homelessness in our City and to support the provincial goal of Alberta-wide success.

2015 Homeless Youth Needs Assessment

The Alberta government’s A Plan for Alberta: Ending Homelessness in 10 years states that Albertans from specialized groups, including homeless youth, are dealing with particularly challenging issues and require targeted responses to be rehoused. To address the need for a specialized response, a Youth Plan, Supporting Healthy and Successful Transitions to Adulthood: A Plan to Prevent and Reduce Youth Homelessness is being rolled out across the province

2017 Housing Inventory

In moving towards a goal of identifying existing stock and future housing needs the City of Grande Prairie’s Affordable Housing Committee1 has updated the inventory of affordable, social, temporary and shelter housing in the City in preparation for a larger community assessment. In addition to providing background information, the Inventory orients work towards establishing new partnerships and fulfills monitoring recommendations outlined in the City of Grande Prairie’s Affordable Housing Master Plan: 2011-2021 (2011 AHMP).

The City of Grande Prairie hired consultants to look at the current housing situation. Consultations with stakeholders were held in June and August of 2010. Stakeholders and City residents were also given an opportunity to provide their feedback through an on-line survey that was launched in August 2010.

Community Advisory Board on Housing and Homelessness (CABH) Application Form

Are you interested in joining the Community Advisory Board on Housing and Homelessness (CABH)? The role of the CABH is to act as an advisor to the City of Grande Prairie for grant funding received from the Government of Canada and the Province of Alberta and to give input into current and future priorities for affordable housing and ending homelessness. Our recruitment priorities include youth, seniors, and domestic violence.
