The City of Grande Prairie is continuing its 2026 capital construction season with road rehabilitation work on 108 Street between 68 Avenue and north of 76 Avenue.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday, July 6 and is expected to continue until early to mid-August, weather permitting.
The project helps extend the life of the roadway, improve driving comfort and support long-term roadway performance.
Work on 108 Street includes:
- Asphalt milling and overlay.
- Adjustments to water valves and other surface infrastructure.
- Refreshed line markings.
During construction, through traffic will be maintained in both directions at all times. Lane reductions will be in place as work progresses, with at least one lane maintained in each direction. The speed limit through the project area will be 30 km/h for the duration of the project. Minor delays are expected.
Intersection paving work is planned for weekends where possible to help reduce impacts to weekday traffic. Short-term closures may occur as work progresses.
Drivers are asked to slow down, follow posted signage and directions from flag persons and allow extra travel time when travelling through the area.
Sidewalks and pathways are expected to remain open.
Transit delays are expected on routes travelling through the area. No transit stop closures or route detours are expected at this time.
Construction schedules and current traffic impacts are available through the Traffic Planner Map at cityofgp.com/capitalconstruction.
Questions about the project can be directed to AccessGP by calling 311 or emailing info@cityofgp.com.
The City thanks residents and commuters for their patience and cooperation while this work is completed.
