Family Violence Prevention Month

Mayor Jackie Clayton proclaimed November 2025 as Family Violence Prevention Month in Grande Prairie.  Family Violence Prevention month serves as a poignant reminder that people in our community have either lived or are currently living in abusive family environments. This month recognizes those and calls upon all citizens to speak up, act and help break the cycle of violence.

National Addictions Awareness Week

Mayor Jackie Clayton proclaimed November 16-22, 2025, as National Addictions Awareness Week in Grande Prairie.

National Addictions Awareness Week is recognized across Canada as an opportunity to raise awareness of the impacts of substance abuse and addiction, while also highlighting the supports available in our community.

Delegations

Wellspring Alberta presented to Council highlighting their role in GP and opportunities to support their mission and ensure no one has to face cancer alone. Wellspring Alberta is a charitable organization providing essential non-medical support to anyone living with cancer and their caregivers. Council received the report for information.

Darry Willier presented to Council to address men’s mental health and most vulnerable in our city. Council received the report for information.

Renee Charbonneau spoke to Council requesting to bring the Loyal Edmonton Regiment – D Company back to Grande Prairie & guidance on support mechanisms for the Veteran’s Memorial Gardens & Interpretive Centre. Council directed Administration to bring information to the appropriate Standing Committee regarding advocacy to bring D-Company back to Grande Prairie.

2026 Policing Services Budget and 2027-2029 Policing Services Projections

Grande Prairie Police Commission presented the 2026 Policing Services Budget and 2027-2029 Policing Services Projections as information and refer to budget deliberations.

Public Appointments – Youth Advisory Council 

Council appointed Anjelie Fe Pedrano, Ava Moulton, Bushra Salad, EJ Igao, Emma Dwyer, Gurshaan Baidwan, Kalib Thomas, Karanjot Singh Rakhra, Kennedy Borle, Lauren Pulumbarit, Mason Huckabone, Randy Tagalogon, Rania Asim, Rocky Rupana, Tanvinder Rupana, Tarandeep Namsot, Tristan Sitek, and Yuhan Lin to the Youth Advisory Council for the 2025-2026 term. 

2024 Tax Recovery Sale 

Council approved the 2025 Tax Recovery Sale process including: 

  • Those properties, subject to 2024 tax recovery notification, as per the attached list, be offered for sale by public auction.
  • That the auction be held in the 1st floor North Conference Room at City Hall on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 9 a.m.; and
  • That the reserve bids for the 2024 tax recovery sale be set as per the attached Appendix D, the 2024 Tax Recovery Sale Reserve Bids.

Grant Recommendations 

Council approved funding allocations as presented in Appendix A, Grant Recommendations.

Snow & Ice Control Adjustments  

Council referred snow and ice control service level adjustments to the 2026 budget deliberations.

Drainage Bylaw Repeal (c-1241) and Replacement (C-1443) 

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1443, being the Drainage Bylaw. These amendments update language, establish and make the Bylaw easier to understand and follow. 

Public Hearing on Bylaw C-1260-204 

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1260-204, being an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw. 

The amendment will rezone the subject properties from Residential Transition (RT) to Central Commercial (CC). The change in land use designation would provide for the development of a medical clinic and other commercial uses.
