(Grande Prairie, Alta. – July 31, 2025) – The City, in partnership with the Grande Prairie Local Immigration Partnership (GPLIP) Council, has launched a new resource guide called the Passport to Grande Prairie to help newcomers and immigrants navigate essential services in the city.

The passport is a booklet that serves as a one-stop, user-friendly guide to help newcomers settle into the community by providing accessible information about local services and resources.

The Passport to Grande Prairie includes an interactive element that encourages newcomers to explore the city by visiting various locations to collect stamps. After receiving five stamps, participants can bring the stamped page to Cedar Point (12106 100 St.), complete a short survey and receive a prize.

“The Passport to Grande Prairie is a creative and practical tool that helps new residents connect to the services, places and people that help build a connected and welcoming city,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “Supporting this initiative reinforces our commitment to accessibility, inclusion and community pride, demonstrating the values that shape who we are as a city and how we serve our residents.”

The Passport to Grande Prairie is available to view or print online at cityofgp.com/PassporttoGP, and printed copies can be picked up at any of the following locations, which also serve as official stamping sites:

  • Grande Prairie Centre for Newcomers (GPCN).
  • Grande Prairie Council for Lifelong Learning (GPCLL).
  • Grande Prairie Public Library (GPPL).
  • Grande Prairie Family Education Society (GPFES).
  • Grande Prairie Public Health Centre.
  • Eastlink Centre
  • Grande Prairie Museum & Heritage Village.
  • Association canadienne-française de l’Alberta (ACFA) régionale de Grande Prairie (French Services).
  • Cedar Point – City of Grande Prairie.

“The Passport to Grande Prairie reflects the essence of what GPLIP is about by bringing people and organizations together to create a more welcoming, informed and connected community,” said Grande Prairie Local Immigration Partnership Chair, Karna Germsheid. “This project showcases the power of collaboration and ensures newcomers have the tools they need to feel confident and supported as they begin their lives in Grande Prairie.”

This initiative is made possible through funding from the Government of Alberta Settlement, Integration and Language Projects grant, which supports projects that promote newcomer attraction and integration, as well as inclusive community building across the province.
