Grande Prairie Municipal Election Day is on October 18, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at eight voting locations across Grande Prairie.
Voting locations for the 2021 municipal election have changed from the 2017 election. Residents are encouraged to visit the interactive voting station map where a City address can be entered to determine the corresponding voting location. Voting locations by neighbourhood are also listed on the voting location postcard mailed to each household or available for viewing on cityofgp.com/election.
Residents unable to vote on October 18 may cast their ballot during advanced voting on October 15 and 16 between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Due to the high demand of advance voting turn-out, the advance vote location has changed to Teresa Sargent Hall in the Montrose Cultural Centre located at 9839 103 Avenue.
To vote in the City of Grande Prairie municipal election you must be at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen, a resident of the City of Grande Prairie on October 18, 2021 and bring acceptable ID to the voting location. A list of acceptable ID as well as more about the election, candidates, and where to vote, is available at cityofgp.com/election.
All efforts to maintain public health and safety will occur, and residents are advised to wear a mask and physically distance when at the voting location. Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 is not required for entry into voting locations.
Unofficial election results are expected to be available on the night of October 18, 2021. The City of Grande Prairie is hosting a Live Results Show that will be streamed on YouTube from 7:30 p.m. to approximately 9 p.m. Residents may tune-in at youtube.com/GrandePrairieCA or on the Eastlink TV community channel 610.
The results will also be available on results.cityofgp.com.
On the Ballot
Grande Prairie residents can vote for:
- 1 Mayor
- Up to 8 Councillors
- Up to 7 Public School Board Trustees
- Up to 5 Separate School Board Trustees Ward 1
Grande Prairie residents will also cast their ballot for the Senate Election and two Referendum questions.
