Grande Prairie is ready to roll up its sleeves as City Scrub returns April 1–30, inviting residents to take 20 minutes to help clean up litter across the community.
From neighbourhood streets to parks and public spaces, City Scrub is a simple way for individuals, families, schools, businesses and community groups to come together and show pride in where they live.
“City Scrub is one of those initiatives that really shows the pride people have in Grande Prairie,” says City of Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton. “It’s amazing what a small amount of time can do when people come together. Whether it’s neighbours, classrooms or coworkers, these moments help build a stronger, more connected and caring community for everyone.”
With snow and ice still covering parts of the city, not all litter may be visible right away. Residents are encouraged to plan ahead, pick up supplies and take part when conditions allow, as more debris will appear throughout April as the snow melts.
City Scrub is also a great opportunity for team building, offering workplaces and organizations a hands-on way to give back while connecting with colleagues and the community.
Take part in the scrub
Free clean-up supplies, including garbage bags and gloves, are available while supplies last at select City facilities.
Participants are reminded to stay safe by sticking to visible litter, avoiding icy areas and dressing for changing spring conditions.
