2025 Grant Application Report
Council received the 2025 Grant Application Report for information. In 2024, the City created a centralized grant database to store and access files. Throughout 2025, the system was leveraged to improve tracking and reporting, helping the organization streamline collaboration on active grant applications.
In 2025, the City managed 64 competitive grant applications, consisting of 42 new grant applications and 21 carried over from 2024. Thirty-two of these applications have been successful, resulting in a total commitment of $3,285,459. On average, successful grant applications received 81 per cent of the funding requested.
In 2025, the City secured a total of $28,883,351 in non-competitive grant commitments. Key examples included the Government of Alberta’s Local Government Fiscal Framework (LGFF) and the Government of Canada’s Canada Community Building Fund (CCBF).
Every grant dollar received through competitive and non-competitive streams reduces the tax burden on the city. These funds enable the City to build infrastructure, enhance programs and services and foster a more resilient and vibrant community.
