Proclamations

Council proclaimed April 22, 2023 as Earth Day.

Council proclaimed April 16 to 22, 2023 as National Volunteer Week.

Delegations

Various Smith division residents and the Grande Prairie Spirit Foundation presented to Council about their concerns with the proposed location of the recreation dome in the Smith subdivision. Council accepted the information as presented.

Rotary Club Funding

Council approved $10,000 in funding towards providing English Second Language courses for Ukrainian refugees through the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie.

Public Security Unit Pilot Project

Council allocated $710,000 from the Future Expenditures Reserve for the continued funding of the Public Security Unit (PSU) from April 2023 to December 2023.

Covered Outdoor Structure and Rink Replacement

Council approved $386,655 in additional funds from the Council Strategic Initiatives Fund and re-allotted $125,000 in funds from the Sargeant Community Park Outdoor Rink capital project to enable replacement of the current outdoor rink at Swanavon with a covered outdoor structure.

Land Acknowledgement Policy 125

Council approved Policy 125, being the Land Acknowledgement Policy which ensures that a land acknowledgement specific to Grande Prairie’s location is used in a consistent and appropriate manner.

2023 – 2025 Indigenous Relations Framework

Council endorsed the 2023-25 Indigenous Relations Framework which documents how the City will support advancing Truth & Reconciliation in our local area & be leaders of change in Canada.

Bylaw C-1461 Assessment Review Board

Council gave three readings to Bylaw C-1461, which establishes Assessment Review Boards.

Proposed Recreation Facility

Council selected the Avondale subdivision as the preferred site for the new recreation facility to enable project planning and preparation to continue forward.

Rescind Policy 316 – Downtown Incentives Program

Council rescinded Policy 316, the Downtown Incentives Program. The remaining funding has been allocated to the Economic Recovery Fund.

Land Use Bylaw Amendment C-1260-165

Council gave third reading to Bylaw C-1260-165, being an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw.
