Alberta's 45th Heritage Day is being celebrated on August 5 in Grande Prairie with a showcase of Canadian heritage and multiculturalism at Muskoseepi Park and the Grande Prairie Museum.

Muskoseepi Park is showcasing a variety of cultural music and dance performances by local and regional artists in the Amphitheatre to celebrate the day from noon to 4:00 p.m. Multicultural displays and local food vendors will also be on site for guests to browse and enjoy.

Over at the Grande Prairie Museum and Heritage Village there will be demonstrations of traditional trades and crafts, such as blacksmithing, yarn spinning and candle making. A petting zoo and games of chance/skill will also be taking place for children to participate in.

The Grande Prairie Centre for Newcomers will be hosting a Kermesse, or cultural exchange, in the Ernie Radbourne Pavillion with art, clothing and lifestyle items from various cultures on display.

Heritage Day events are all-ages and free to attend.

Parking is limited and there are no ATMS on site so attendees are encouraged to bring cash for vendors and food trucks.
