Residents are invited to have ‘snow’ much fun at three downtown locations this weekend at Grande North Winter Festival.
“We’re so excited to celebrate winter with everyone at our signature winter event this weekend,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “Community spirit is what brings Grande North Winter Festival alive and we’re looking forward to a great weekend of seasonal fun!”
Bonnetts Energy Centre
Bonnetts Energy Centre is the hub of live entertainment during GNWF, hosting the following activities as part of the event:
- Ice gardens
- TC Energy ice carving demonstrations.
- Windsor Ford chippers interactive ice carving.
- Live entertainment in The Bowes Friday and Saturday, featuring:
- Friday: Grande Prairie Jazz Collective.
- Saturday: Kyle McKearney, Hey!Driver and McKindred.
Bonnetts Energy Centre activities are ticketed for ages 12 and older, costing $12 a day or $22 for the weekend (three days), children under 12 years old can attend for free. Buy your tickets in advance at bonnettsenergycentre.com/winterfest.
Montrose Cultural Centre
Montrose Cultural Centre is hosting free activities throughout the event weekend, including:
- Live DJ.
- Canadian Tire Skating Oval.
- Aquatera Ice Slide.
- The Office Snow Maze.
- Ortho 101 Crokicurl.
Montrose Cultural Centre also features Indigenous storytelling and drumming with Elder Theresa Gladue on Sunday, January 12 from 2 to 3 p.m.
Muskoseepi Park
Various outdoor winter-focused activities take place at Muskoseepi Park for Grande North Winter Festival, including:
- Live DJ.
- Skate party on the pond with music.
- Horse and wagon rides.
- Snowball target.
- Maple taffy, provided by Association canadienne-française de l'Alberta (ACFA) régionale de Grande-Prairie.
Muskoseepi Park activities are free to attend and participate in. Grande Prairie Storm players are joining the excitement skating at both Muskoseepi Park pond and Canadian Tire Skating Oval at Montrose Cultural Centre on Friday evening.
