Snow Clearing Updates for November 9 to 13, 2020

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon/Highland Park (North).

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park (South), Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Easthaven, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

Friday, November 13, 2020: 

  • City crews are monitoring and sanding the priority road network and trail network. 
  • Crews will continue to monitor and sand priority roads over the weekend.

Thursday, November 12, 2020: 

  • City crews continue to monitor and sand the priority road network and trail network.

Tuesday, November 10, 2020: 

  • City crews continue to monitor and sand the priority road network and the trail network.
  • Residents may report icy areas by calling the Citizen Contact Centre at 780-538-0300.

Monday, November 9, 2020:

  • City crews began plowing and sanding the priority road network last week.
  • Today, City crews continue to plow and sand the priority road network.
  • Plowing and sanding of the City's trail network began today.
