City announces 2025 Aging Well Together priorities and goals

Grande Prairie City Council has approved the Aging Well Together priorities, setting a clear path to enhance the community's age-friendliness in 2025.

The Aging Well Together initiative seeks to address the specific needs of the 19.3 per cent of the population that is ages 55 and older. The project kicked off in 2024 with community engagement, which helped inform and guide the priorities document. 

The priorities highlighted in the Aging Well Together document include:

City partners with Grande Prairie Primary Care Network for new Social Prescribing initiative

The City of Grande Prairie is excited to partner with the Grande Prairie Primary Care Network (GP PCN) to introduce a new Social Prescribing initiative for ages 55 and older, funded by the Government of Alberta. 

Social Prescribing aims to bridge the gap between medical and social care services by allowing providers to make a social prescription to a link worker, a non-clinical professional employed by community-based, seniors-serving organizations. 

Call for Exhibitors: Inspire the Next Generation at the 2025 Youth Career Discovery Expo

The City of Grande Prairie is currently seeking exhibitors for the Youth Career Discovery Expo 2025, taking place on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Bonnetts Energy Centre.

This exciting, hands-on event provides teens and young adults aged 14 to 30 with a unique opportunity to explore diverse career paths, discover educational opportunities and unlock their full potential. With a focus on interactive and engaging experiences, the Expo will feature exhibitors from a wide range of industries, trade associations, educational institutions and community support organizations.

Paula Simpson Morand presenting keynote speech at Women of Influence Awards

The Woman of Influence Awards 2025 Presented by Peace Diagnostic Imaging is proud to welcome Paula Simpson Morand as the keynote speaker for the awards luncheon on Friday, March 7.

Paula’s speech, “Empowered to Dream, Bold Enough to Lead” aims to accelerate the progress women have made globally and amplify the work to achieve true equity. Her goal is to inspire everyone to dream big and take bold action to overcome barriers and build an inclusive, innovative future for all. 

Grande Spirit Foundation Housing Needs Assessment 2023 Update

Housing needs assessments were completed for each of the four geographies, including Grande Prairie, as well as a regional perspective. The assessment includes a housing market overview, assessment of current housing need, an estimate of future need, an overview of existing and future housing needs by household type and age and potential options to address the housing needs. 

Women of Influence Award Nominations Now Open Featuring New Award Categories

Nominations are now open for the City of Grande Prairie’s Women of Influence Awards 2025 presented by Peace Diagnostic Imaging, now featuring five award categories to recognize women across various sectors in the community. 

The Women of Influence Awards seek to recognize the women driving innovation and entrepreneurship in the region, creating opportunity for everyone in Grande Prairie. The awards highlight women who are championing gender equality, breaking barriers in their field, achieving new heights and advocating for greater access for all.
