City of Grande Prairie hosts Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) information sessions

The City of Grande Prairie invites residents to learn about the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) through two virtual information sessions presented by Alberta Municipalities and the City of Grande Prairie on January 16.

CEIP helps residential property owners finance energy efficiency and renewable energy upgrades, supporting sustainability and reducing energy costs.

Each session has the same information, presented in two convenient time slots. Details for the sessions are as follows: 

2024 Drop & Swap event taking place October 16-19

The City of Grande Prairie, in cooperation with Aquatera Utilities Inc., and with support from Goodwill Industries of Alberta is hosting this year’s Drop & Swap event October 16-19.

The Drop & Swap event is a fashionably free community initiative promoting sustainability and waste reduction. Participants are invited to either ‘drop’ new or gently used clothing or ‘swap’ and discover new pieces to refresh their wardrobe.

Grande Prairie invites residents to celebrate Pollinator Week

The City of Grande Prairie invites residents to join in the celebration of Pollinator Week, taking place from June 17 to June 23

As a dedicated Bee City, Grande Prairie is committed to promoting and protecting vital pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and other essential creatures that support our ecosystems, food production, and biodiversity. Residents are encouraged to plant pollinator-friendly gardens, reduce pesticide use, and spread awareness about the importance of these creatures.

Annual City Scrub begins April 2

Residents are invited to join the City's annual City Scrub, a community clean-up to clear away and properly dispose winter debris and litter.

From April 2 until April 30, residents are encouraged to spend 20 minutes picking up litter in parks and nearby areas. Once the litter is collected, it can be disposed of in your curbside garbage cart alongside regular household trash.

Free supplies are available for participants to help clean up our community, including garbage bags and gloves.

Celebrate Earth Day 2024 with the City and County of Grande Prairie

The County of Grande Prairie and City of Grande Prairie invite residents to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 20, at the Montrose Cultural Centre in Teresa Sargent Hall.

The family-friendly drop-in event runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and features engaging learning opportunities, demonstrations from local businesses, and activities for residents of all ages.

Community invited to clothing Drop & Swap event

The City of Grande Prairie, in collaboration with Aquatera Utilities Inc., is hosting a free community event called the Drop & Swap. This eco-conscious initiative encourages our community to engage by either contributing new or gently used clothing or finding new treasures for their wardrobe.

From October 18 to 20 residents can drop off their new and previously loved clean clothing at the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion in Muskoseepi Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

GP Grows: Dig It, Empowering Residents to Grow and Harvest at Home

The City of Grande Prairie is excited to bring back the GP Grows: Dig It program for another year, offering free seed potatoes, carrots, radishes, beets, onions and triple-mix soil.

GP Grows: Dig It builds on the previous success of GP Grows and positive feedback from the community. The program provides residents with a fun activity everyone can enjoy while experiencing the benefits of gardening.
