The City of Grande Prairie is scheduled to begin its 2026 Traffic Signal Maintenance Program on Sunday, September 13 to maintain and enhance traffic signal infrastructure at intersections across the city.

Maintenance will vary by location and may include traffic signal pole replacements, cabinet replacements and full rehabilitation of traffic signal infrastructure.

Work is planned at several intersections across the city in two phases. A full list of planned locations is available at cityofgp.com/trafficsignals.

Most activities will take place along arterial roadways. Traffic will remain open in all directions, though temporary lane closures may be required while crews are on site.

Activities affecting the normal operation of traffic signals will be scheduled during off-peak hours where possible to help reduce impacts to motorists. This may include overnight work at some locations.

The program is expected to continue through the end of November, with the time required at each intersection varying based on the type and extent of maintenance being completed.

Drivers are asked to watch for crews, construction signage and temporary traffic controls and proceed with caution through active work areas.

Work schedules are subject to change based on weather, construction progress and operational requirements.
