(Grande Prairie, Alta. – August 4, 2026) – The City of Grande Prairie is inviting residents, businesses and stakeholders to provide feedback on the 132 Avenue and 116 Street Twinning Design Project as planning continues for the future expansion of these roadways.

The project is developing a long-term design for the twinning of portions of 132 Avenue and 116 Street to support growth, increasing traffic volumes and future infrastructure needs. The corridors provide connections through the north and south areas of Grande Prairie, including connections to Highway 43 and Highway 40.

“Planning for our transportation network well in advance helps ensure we are prepared as Grande Prairie continues to grow,” says City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “Input from people who live, work and travel in these areas will help us better understand local considerations as the design moves forward.”

The project is currently in the planning stage. Construction is not anticipated at this time and could occur over the next five to 20 years depending on future development, transportation and City priorities.
