(Grande Prairie, Alta. – June 3, 2026) – Residents can dive into summer with the opening of the Aquatera Outdoor Pool on Friday, June 5, marking the return of outdoor swimming, splash parks and summer programming across Grande Prairie.

From June 5 to 23, residents can enjoy public swimming from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 1 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. A variety of lessons, programs and other aquatic opportunities will also be available throughout the summer. New this year, gazebo rentals provide a dedicated space for gatherings and celebrations, while returning favourites like Youth Fridays featuring $2 drop-in admission continue for the 2026 season.

“We’re excited to welcome residents back to the Aquatera Outdoor Pool and celebrate the start of summer together,” said City of Grande Prairie Mayor, Jackie Clayton. “The outdoor pool has been part of so many summer memories for families in our community, and Here Comes Summer is a great way to kick off the season.”

Here Comes Summer Event

To help celebrate the start of the season, the City of Grande Prairie is inviting residents to the third annual Here Comes Summer event on Friday, June 12 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Muskoseepi Park. The free community celebration will feature a live DJ, door prizes and outdoor fun for all ages, including free swimming until 7:30 p.m. at the Aquatera Outdoor Pool sponsored by Aquatera Utilities Inc. 

The event also features skateboarding demonstrations at the Muskoseepi Park skate park presented by The Drop Rideshop, with a free community hot dog barbecue, sponsored by Circle K, beginning at 3 p.m. while supplies last. Residents are encouraged to explore Muskoseepi Park, nearby splash parks and outdoor amenities while taking part in the celebration.
