City Council approved a selection of 2022-2023 Community Group Funding Recommendations at the Council meeting held Monday, July 12, 2021.

The funding allocation recommendations that were approved include:

  • Operating Grant Allocations for the following community groups:
    • Community
      • Peace –Library System
      • Grande Prairie and District Golden Age Centre
      • Grande Prairie Youth Emergency Shelter
      • Rising Above Ministry
      • Saint Lawrence Centre
      • Grande Prairie and Area Safe Communities
      • Spinal Cord Injury Association of Alberta
      • John Howard Society of Grande Prairie
      • Centre for Creative Arts
      • Grande Prairie Live Theatre
      •  Art Gallery of Grande Prairie
      • South Peace Regional Archives
      • Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Park
      • Grande Prairie Regional Sport Connection
    • Economy
      • Community Futures Grande Prairie & Region
      • Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association
    • Safety
      • Grande Prairie Technical Search and Rescue
      • Grande Prairie and District Victim Services Association
      • STARS
      • Mighty Peace Watershed Alliance
    • Library
      • Grande Prairie Public Library
  • 2022 Operating Grant Allocations for the following community groups:
    • Enhancement
      • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie & Area
      • Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau
      • Grande Prairie Council for Lifelong Learning
      • Coalition for Safer Alberta Roads
      • Grande Prairie & Area Environmental Science Education Society
  • 2022-2023 Grant Funding for the following:
    • Arts Development
    • Pursuit of Excellence
    • Large Scale Tourism Funding
    • Neighbourhood Association Operating Grants
    • Community Improvement Grant
  • 2022 Capital Funding in the amount of $40,000.00 to the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie
  • Funding in the amount of $30,000.00 from the Future Expenditures Reserve to the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie, to be used for 2022 exhibitions and promotion of those exhibitions

The approvals are in addition to the previously approved funding allocation recommendations that were approved on the City Council meeting held Monday, June 14, 2021 that include:

  • 2022 & 2023 Capital Funding in the amount of $50,000 per year to STARS
  • 2022 Operational Funding in the amount of $10,000 to Peace Wapiti Speed Skating Club from the Arctic Winter Games Legacy Fund

Discussion on the remainder of the 2022-2023 Capital Funding allocations is being deferred to the 2022 Budget Deliberations in the fall.
