The City of Grande Prairie invites residents to celebrate Pollinator’s Week with a Buzzin’ Around Town Scavenger Hunt
About Pollinator Week
Pollinator Week is celebrated internationally from June 21-27, 2021 in support and celebration of pollinators and pollinator health. It is a time to recognize the importance of pollinators in our ecosystem, and the ways in which we can help support them across the community.
2021 is the first year the City is celebrating Pollinators Week, and it marks an important milestone since Grande Prairie officially became a Bee City in the Fall of 2020.
The designation of a Bee City solidifies the City’s commitment to educate the community about ways to support the bee population, such as creating biodiversity in pollinator habitats and focusing on sustainable practices that encourage natural areas and edible landscapes.
Participate in the Scavenger Hunt
The virtual scavenger hunt is being hosted as a fun and interactive way to teach the community about everyday practices they can implement to create habitats for pollinators.
Residents can participate by visiting the event listing at cityofgp.com/events for full details on how to download and play.
The scavenger hunt ends at midnight on June 27. Individuals who reach 10,000 points will be entered into a prize draw to win a $100 gift card provided by Arc Resources.
