The City of Grande Prairie is excited to open the doors of the Reverend Forbes Homestead and Pioneer Hospital for the season on Wednesday, August 4.
The hours of operation are Wednesday to Saturday 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. until September 4.
After September 4, the facility is open by appointment until the end of September. To book a tour during September, please contact 780-830-7090.
Admission is free; donations are accepted.
The Reverend Forbes Homestead is a Provincial Historic Resource Site operated by the Grande Prairie Museum and is located behind the QEII Hospital (10424 96 Street). Visitors can view household antiques and primitive medical equipment on display.
Afternoon Teas
The Forbes Homestead is bringing back their annual afternoon teas on the following days:
- Wednesday, August 11
- Thursday, August 12
- Featuring the South Peace Regional Archives to answer questions and share information
- Wednesday, August 18
- Featuring the Peace Country Historical Society to answer questions, share information, and sell local historical books
- Wednesday, August 19
The teas begin at 2:00 p.m. on each day. The event is held outside on the lawn, and participants have an opportunity to tour the building.
Cost is $5/person which includes large scone (choice of plain, raisin or cheese), jam, butter and choice of tea, coffee or juice.
Reservations are required and can be booked by visiting the Grande Prairie Museum, or calling 780-830-7090 between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Payment is required at the time of booking.
