Road rehabilitation on Resources Road between 68 Avenue and 88 Avenue begins Saturday, July 25 as part of the City of Grande Prairie’s 2026 capital construction program.
The work will renew aging roadway and storm infrastructure along one of Grande Prairie’s key arterial corridors, with construction expected to continue until mid-September, weather permitting.
Work includes:
- Asphalt milling and paving
- Storm system replacements
- Concrete spot replacements
- Pavement line markings
Traffic impacts and delays
Resources Road will remain open during construction, with lane reductions, lane shifts and traffic control measures in place as work progresses.
Drivers should expect significant delays through the corridor and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible, particularly during peak travel periods.
Traffic delays may be considerably longer when trains are moving through the 68 Avenue rail crossing. Lane restrictions associated with construction will reduce available roadway capacity, which may result in traffic backing up more quickly and taking longer to clear following a train.
Motorists travelling through the area are encouraged to allow additional time, follow posted signage and traffic control and consider alternate routes where possible.
Current construction information and traffic impacts are available through the Traffic Planner Map at cityofgp.com/construction.
The City of Grande Prairie thanks residents, businesses and commuters for their patience and cooperation while this work is completed.
