Road rehabilitation on 68 Avenue between Kateri Drive and 100 Street begins Tuesday, July 14 as part of the City of Grande Prairie’s 2026 capital construction program.
The work will renew aging infrastructure, improve road conditions and extend the service life of this key east-west corridor.
Work includes:
- Asphalt milling and paving
- Storm sewer repairs
- Pavement line markings
Construction is expected to continue until mid-August, weather permitting.
Traffic and access impacts
68 Avenue will remain open throughout construction, with no full closure or detour planned.
Traffic will be reduced to single-lane alternating flow through active work areas, with a speed limit of 30 km/h.
Drivers should expect temporary lane reductions and delays and are encouraged to allow additional travel time, particularly during peak travel periods.
Some work will take place within the intersection of 68 Avenue and Kateri Drive, resulting in minor temporary turning impacts.
Access to businesses and properties in the area will be maintained.
Sidewalks and pathways will remain open throughout construction.
No transit stops are impacted. Transit routes will continue operating through the construction area but may experience minor delays.
Drivers are reminded to follow posted signage, reduce their speed and use caution around crews and equipment.
