(Grande Prairie, Alta. – September 1, 2026) – From supporting community programs to leading charitable initiatives, volunteers play a vital role in building a connected and welcoming city. The City of Grande Prairie is inviting nominations for the 2026 Volunteer Awards until October 17, 2026.

The annual awards celebrate exceptional volunteer contributions and recognize those who go above and beyond to improve the quality of life for Grande Prairie residents.

The two categories open for nominations are:

George Repka Outstanding Achievement Award

Recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the community through recreation, culture, or social services. Nominees must demonstrate more than 20 years of service and a record of achievements that have created lasting benefits for Grande Prairie.

Bill Bowes Volunteer Organization of the Year Award

Recognizes a volunteer organization or foundation that has demonstrated excellence in community service, volunteerism, fundraising, and community development. Eligible organizations must operate within the City of Grande Prairie and have made a meaningful positive impact on residents.

"The generosity and commitment of volunteers help shape the vibrant, welcoming community we are proud to call home," said Mayor Jackie Clayton. "These awards offer an opportunity to celebrate the people and organizations whose efforts often happen behind the scenes but make a tremendous difference in the lives of others."

Residents are encouraged to submit nominations in both categories. Award recipients will be honoured by the City of Grande Prairie later this fall.
