Residents are advised that temporary road closures and transit service adjustments will be in effect on Wednesday, July 1 for Canada Day celebrations. Fireworks begin at 11:30 p.m. from Legion Field, a new launch location for this year's celebration.
Road Closures
Temporary road closures will be in effect before and during the Canada Day Parade.
Beginning at approximately 6 a.m.:
- Westbound 100 Avenue between 98 Street and 102 Street will be closed for event setup.
Beginning at approximately 1:50 p.m.:
- Rolling road closures will be in effect along the parade route from 108 Avenue to Northwestern Polytechnic.
- Roads will reopen in sections as the parade passes to help reduce traffic delays while maintaining a safe distance between vehicles and parade participants.
Eastbound traffic on 99 Avenue and 100 Avenue remain open during the parade.
Northbound and southbound traffic crossing 100 Avenue at 98 Street, 100 Street and 102 Street will be temporarily detoured.
Motorists are encouraged to:
- Use 108 Street or 92 Street for north-south travel where possible.
- Use 116 Avenue or 68 Avenue for westbound travel to avoid delays.
- Access Northwestern Polytechnic via 107 Avenue and 108 Street where possible.
- Allow extra travel time throughout the day.

Transit Service
Grande Prairie Transit operates free of charge all day on Canada Day.
- Fixed-route transit will operate on Sunday service hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Late Night On-Demand and accessible transit service will operate between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. between any transit stops within Grande Prairie.
Due to the Canada Day Parade, several transit routes and stops are temporarily impacted throughout the afternoon.

Fireworks Location
The Canada Day fireworks display begins at 11:30 p.m. from Legion Field (11313 105 Street).
This year, the fireworks launch site has moved from Muskoseepi Park to Legion Field following a fire prevention review. The updated location helps reduce wildfire risk while allowing the display to proceed safely.
Residents are encouraged to view the fireworks from the designated viewing areas surrounding Legion Field. A fireworks viewing map, parking information and recommended viewing locations are available at cityofgp.com/CanadaDay.
