Containment Booms Deployed in Bear Creek in Response to Environmental Spill

Residents are advised there are containment booms deployed in the Bear Creek near Muskoseepi Park and the 100 Avenue Bridge.

The booms were put in place by the City on April 5 in response to a spill originating from a nearby private residence. The booms will be in place until the contaminant is cleared. Residents using the 100 Avenue underpass are advised there may be an odour of fuel present in the area.

The City has notified Alberta Environment and Protected Areas and continues to follow Environment Protection and Enhancement Act guidelines to prevent further impact in the area.

Residents are reminded to ensure fuel is secured in an appropriate container when in transport or stored to avoid leaks and prevent damage to our environment.
