Snow Clearing Update - March 14 to March 20

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

On March 20, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively plowing and sanding all priority routes, as needed. 
  • Continue filling potholes on priority routes. 
  • Continue opening catch basins to ensure melting snow can enter the stormwater system.
  • Pick up windrows in Monday residential areas. 
  • Continue actively plowing and sanding trails and paths, as needed. 

On March 18 to 19, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue monitoring the priority road network and sanding, as needed.

On March 17, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively plowing and sanding all priority routes, as needed. 
  • Begin filling potholes on priority routes. 
  • Begin opening catch basins to ensure melting snow can enter the stormwater system.
  • Pick up windrows in Friday residential areas. 
  • Continue actively plowing and sanding trails and paths, as needed. 

On March 16, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively plowing and sanding all priority routes, as needed. 
  • Pick up windrows in Thursday residential areas. 
  • Continue actively plowing and sanding trails and paths, as needed. 

On March 15, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Continue actively plowing and sanding all priority routes. 
  • Pick up windrows in Wednesday residential areas. 
  • Continue actively plowing and sanding trails and paths. 

On March 14, 2023, crews plan to:

  • Actively plow and sand all priority routes. 
  • Pick up windrows in County Club. 
  • Actively plow and sand trails.
