Snow Clearing Update - November 22 to 25

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

November 28, 2022, crews plan to:

  • continue monitoring the priority road network and sanding as needed.
  • pick up piles in the Monday areas of Crystal Heights and Ivy Lake.
  • continue monitoring the trail network. 

November 26 to 27, 2022, crews plan to:

  • continue monitoring the priority road network and sanding as needed.

If weather conditions change to snow over the weekend snow removal operations will switch to begin clearing the priority road network. 

November 25, 2022, crews plan to:

  • continue monitoring the priority road network and sanding as needed.
  • continue residential snow removal operations.
    • plow roads in the Friday week  B areas of Lakeland and Crystal Lake Estates.
    • pick up piles in the Friday areas of Royal Oaks and Arbour Hills. 
  • continue monitoring the trail network. 

November 24, 2022, crews plan to:

  • continue monitoring the priority road network and sanding as needed.
  • pick up piles in the Thursday area of Mission Heights. 
  • continue monitoring the trail network. 

November 23, 2022, crews plan to:

  • continue monitoring the priority road network and sanding as needed.
  • pick up piles in cul-de-sacs in all Wednesday neighbourhoods of Avondale, Cobblestone, College Park, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, Smith and Swanavon.
  • continue snow and ice control on all trails.

November 22, 2022, crews plan to:

  • continue monitoring the priority road network and sanding as needed.
  • plow residential roads in the Tuesday week B areas of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South and Country Club West.
  • plow priority 2 roads, and pick up windrows and piles in cul-de-sacs in all Tuesday neighbourhoods of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson, Southview, and Signature Falls.
  • continue snow and ice control on all trails.
