Snow Clearing Update - March 21 to 25

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Hillside, Mountview and VLA/Montrose.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

March 24, 2022: 

  • City crews are patrolling all priority roads for problem areas.
  • City crews are opening catch basins and thawing culverts. 
  • Pothole repair crews are out on priority roads. 
  • City crews are picking up piles in Countryside North and South and O'Brien Lake. 
  • Crews are patrolling sidewalks and tails for ice control. 

March 23, 2022: 

  • City crews are patrolling all priority roads.
  • City crews are picking up piles in Ivy Lake, Countryside North and South. 
  • City crews are removing existing ice and snow from residential roads.
  • Crews are patrolling the trail network for problem areas. 

March 22, 2022

  • Crews are patrolling all priority roads.
  • City crews are picking up piles in Crystal Heights, Ivy Lake, Cobblestone and Riverstone.
  • Crews are blading and loading out problem areas to improve drainage. 
  • Crews are patrolling sidewalks and tails for problem areas. 

March 21, 2022
