Proclamation

Mayor Jackie Clayton begins the meeting by proclaiming March 21 as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

The proclamation demonstrates the City’s belief that equal opportunity and equitable treatment should exist for all people.

The City further believes that every resident of the City of Grande Prairie has the right to realize their potential regardless of race, colour, cultural or ethnic origin.

Development Permit – Temporary Permanent Supportive Housing

Council approved a temporary development permit for permanent supportive housing at 12102 100 Street permitting temporary housing onsite while the Coordinated Care Campus undergoes renovations.

2022 Business Improvement Area Assessment & Tax Bylaws

Council passed the 2022 Business Improvement Area Assessment & Tax Bylaws C-1447, C-1418, and C-1449

Aquatera Dividend Declaration

Council directed the Mayor to sign on behalf of the City of Grande Prairie, the unanimous consent for discretionary dividends, as requested by Aquatera.

This permits Aquatera to disburse discretionary dividends to shareholders if unanimously voted by the original stakeholders. The City’s total dividends for 2021 total $3,385,892.

Transit Facility Improvements

Council approved improvements to the Towne Centre Mall Transit Hub, including 2 heated shelters and 4 new benches, increasing community safety and accessibility to transit services.

Ball Diamonds Priorities Policy

City Council approved the Ball Diamond Priorities Policy which outlines the fair and equitable distribution of ball diamond time to users due to a limited amount of booking time available during prime operating hours.

Collision Reporting Centre

Council directed administration to seek expanded collision investigation authorities from the Province to allow City Enforcement Officers to take on responsibility for injury and non-injury traffic collisions.

Land-Use Bylaw Amendments

Council postponed amendments to the Land Use Bylaw that address changes to the Municipal Government Act, electronic application requirements, and connecting private serviced developments to public utilities. Council directed staff to bring back further information.

Council approved amendments to the Land Use Bylaw that enhance and maintain vehicle and pedestrian safety in locations that have direct vehicle access onto arterial roads.
