Snow Clearing Update - March 14 to 18

There are two main ways the City runs snow plowing and ice control operations:

Priority Road Plowing and Ice Control
  • Occurs continuously throughout the winter in response to changing weather conditions.
  • The goal is to plow arterial (priority 1) and secondary (priority 2) roads to maintain clear access for emergency vehicles and general commuters.
  • Includes ice control operations such as sanding and salting, as well as windrow pick-up.
Residential Snow Clearing
  • Occurs in two-week rotations only when triggered by the City.
  • If a neighbourhood is not complete in week one, crews will return in week two.
  • Operated Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The City hires contracted crews to plow residential roads.

Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit and Ivy Lake Estates.

Tuesday

Patterson and South Patterson and Southview.

Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Signature Falls and Country Club West.

Wednesday

Avondale, College Park and Swanavon.

Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone and Smith.

Thursday

Kensington, Mission Heights, O’Brien Lake and Stone Ridge.

Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe.

Friday

Arbour Hills, Gateway, Northridge, Royal Oaks and Westgate.

Lakeland, Crystal Ridge, Copperwood, and Crystal Lake Estates.

March 18, 2022: 

  • Pothole repair crews are out on priority one and two roads. 
  • City crews are working to keep ice away from catch basins. 
  • Crews are picking up piles of snow from cul-de-sacs and removing stored snow in Friday areas. 
  • The trail network is being monitored for Ice control. 

March 17, 2022: 

  • Crews are patrolling priority roads for ice control.
  • City crews are working to fill potholes along priority roads.
  • Crews are thawing catch basins and culverts to help improve drainage. 
  • Crews are picking up piles in Crystal Lake and Lakeland. 
  • Snow and ice control is in progress on all trails and paths. 

March 16, 2022: 

  • The residential snow clearing rotation has been completed. 
  • City crews are patrolling priority roads for ice control.
  • City crews will be loading out snow from residential areas to help improve drainage. 
  • Crews are working to fill potholes along priority roads. 
  • Crews are picking up piles in Crystal Lake. 
  • The sanding of trails and paths is ongoing.

March 15, 2022: 

  • Crews are patrolling all priority roads and sanding as needed.
  • Residential snow clearing crews are currently plowing roads in the neighbourhoods of Country Club Estates, Countryside North and South, Country Club West, Patterson and South Patterson Southview, and Signature Falls.
  • Crews are picking up piles in Crystal Lake. 
  • City crews are plowing and picking up lanes in Lakeland and Cobblestone. 
  • Trails continue to be plowed and sanded.

March 14, 2022: 

  • City crews are patrolling priority roads for ice control.
  • Residential snow clearing crews are currently plowing roads in the neighbourhoods of Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Hillside, Ivy Lake Estates, Mountview, Summit and VLA/Montrose. 
  • Piles are being picked up in Crystal Lake. 
  • City crews are cutting gutters on priority two roads in industrial areas. 
  • Crews are plowing and sanding sidewalks and paths.
